Lower Your Car Insurance Rates

March 16th, 2010 by admin

Auto insurance costs are a big part of the cost of owning a car. If you have a car you have to have insurance. If you own a car, you have to have insurance and it is a major portion of the cost of running your car. However, there are ways to save on your car insurance. Read on for more information.

Car insurance companies are many and varied. It is a very competitive industry. The various companies do not have the same priorities. In addition, priorities within the same company will vary from time-to-time. Therefore, you should periodically shop around to be sure that you are getting the best car insurance for your needs.

You should first understand a little about the way that car insurance companies set their pricing. By doing so, you will be able to save.

It might surprise you to learn that, in spite of all the advertising to the contrary, insurance companies don’t look at you as an individual. Rather, you are a part of a group. Actually, you fall into several groups. Car insurance companies place your individual profile into groups of individuals with a similar profile. The group is seen as a risk factor. For instance, younger drivers, as a group, get into more accidents than older drivers do. If you are a younger driver, even if your accident and ticket rate to date is zero, you will still be considered a higher risk, together with the rest of the group of younger drivers.

There are some risks categories that you fall into that you cannot change. The younger driver is an example. However, there are also risk categories that you can control. Here are a few of them.

Faster cars statistically get into more accidents and will therefore pay more for car insurance. Similarly, very expensive cars cost more to fix or replace than a cheaper car does. Again, they will be rated as a higher risk and therefore the owners will pay higher rates.

Studies have also shown that, even if you never had an accident, if you have had many tickets you are more likely to have an accident in the future. Therefore, driving without getting tickets will produce lower car insurance rates.

The more miles you put on your car, the more likely you are to have an accident. You may not be able to change your driving habits because, for example, you primarily drive to work, but if you can alter your driving profile, you may be able to qualify for a reduced car insurance rate.

Once again, statistics show that drivers that attend safe driver classes will be less likely to have an accident. Some insurance companies even offer their own online courses for your convenience.

Hire a Car When Visiting the Gold Coast

March 15th, 2010 by admin

Car hire is something that you may want to consider when visiting the Gold Coast. Gold Coast car rentals can be found from the airport or you can find car hire offices in any of the larger towns if you decide you need one. People often ask whether they should bother to hire a car while visiting the Gold Coast and the answer is a resounding yes. There are several reasons to hire a car when visiting. First and foremost, the best reason to hire a car is convenience. Although public transportation is available up and down the Gold Coast, it doesn’t compare to being able to drive where you want, when you want to. The buses that are available have a strict route to follow and are often crowded, especially during the summer months. Not to mention, waiting out in the sun for a bus to come along isn’t always the most pleasant way to spend your time. The second reason is the cost. You might think that car rentals are more expensive but by the time, you pay for taxis or bus rides, the money adds up, especially if you have a large family. The freedom that Gold Coast car rentals offer is the ability to travel around and see the area properly. There are so many activities to enjoy off the beaten path that it would be a shame to miss out because you didn’t have a car to get around. There are a number of scenic routes in and around the Gold Coast and these are best explored by driving around. The quaint cafes en route will welcome you with freshly baked breads and aromatic coffee. Some of these routes are perfect for couples on a honeymoon or weekend getaway, because they are gorgeous and private. If you are planning a proper shopping spree then it is highly advisable that you get yourself a car. Many shopping areas on the Gold Coast are open till pretty late, which means that there is a strong possibility that you might spend more time than you had expected. And with a car at hand, it will be much easier for you to get all your shopping back to your hotel! The nightlife of the Gold Coast is renowned all over the world, and if you have any intentions of clubbing and partying till the wee hours of the morning, then you will definitely need a car. It can get a tad bit difficult to get public transportation or a cab at three in the morning.

5 Car Games For Kids Over 10

March 14th, 2010 by admin

Generally, when traveling with kids over the age of 10, your life starts to get a bit easier then it was when they were toddlers. However, on longer trips it can still get a bit frustrating. They are not as easily entertained with meaningless games and require a bit more substance in their vehicle activity fun. Below are 5 games that you can play with kids over the age of 10 in the car to get you to your destination with a little less headache.

1. Scavenger Hunt – On a long trip create a list of things that you might see on the road such as a flashing red light, barn, church, license plate with a “Q”, etc. It is really simple to come up with at least a hundred things to watch for. When someone spots something on the list their names goes next to that item on the list. Whoever has the most things found once you reach your destination, wins. Perhaps they don’t have to do the dishes for a night or they get to stay up a half hour later. Create a reward that will keep them eager to play.

2. License Plate Game – Create a list of every different state license plate that you see. Whoever spots the highest number of different license plates wins the game.

3. Have a Spelling Bee – This is really an ideal game because not only are they having fun but they are also learning. You can use their school work as a guide to create a list and throw in a few harder ones at well to make the game a bit more challenging.

4. 20 Questions – You pick an object and label it a person, place or thing. The kids get to ask a total of 20 questions to guess what the object is. They are only allowed to ask questions that requires a yes or no answer and they can either play as a group and work together or individually.

5. Single Sentence Story – One person begins the game by creating a first sentence in a story. Then next person adds a sentence, essentially adding onto the story. This is fun if someone can be designed to write the whole story down to read back later. This game is creative and a good story can keep a game going for an endless number of hours.

Kids over the age of 10 are at the point where they aren’t going to cry because they’re bored but the attitudes can sometimes be worse then tears. Simple easy games that can be played like these in the car costs no money yet creates a few laughs and great memories.

Tired of Getting Expensive Car Insurance? Four Tips To Get You Low Premiums

March 12th, 2010 by admin

In the United States alone, over 20% of the people will report that their car insurance coverage is too expensive for their budget. Although this may look like sour grapes on their part this may be true because most of them just go along paying huge sum of money for their car insurance bills.

To be able to avoid this here are some things you can do to lower your auto insurance bills.

1. First of all, you need to check your driving behavior. It is very easy for one to get a ticket on road speeding especially when you are under certain circumstances. You may neglect driving safely, or you speed up on the interstate to catch up on a meeting. Whatever it i, a speeding ticket and a bad driving record will give you extremely expensive premium rates. The reason behind this is that insurance providers will have to pay more for people who have a high tendency to get involved in road accidents.

Your speeding ticket is also the ticket to a higher price quote so you better clean up your act now!

2. The next thing to consider is the type of vehicle you are using. Driving a powerful car or an expensive one will also drive your insurance bills up. This is because some cars use expensive equipment and parts which can cost more for insurance companies to cover so they ask for a higher payment from you. Cars that are also found to be statistically more likely to be in road accidents also have higher premium rates.

One way for you to know which cars are greatly involved in accidents is to visit the Insurance Institutes list of highway loss. You will know which types of car are highly involved and steer clear away from these auto models if your want low insurance rates.

3. Check your credit data and ensure that you have a good standing reputation. Your credit score will show how responsible you have become and the more you carry this responsibility, the more insurance companies are going to give your affordable rates. When you pose as a low risk driver and responsible person, insurance providers give you a low amount of premium as well and if you want to pay monthly it is important to have a good score.

4. Be inquisitive when it comes to inquiring for discounts from your car insurance agent. Most of the time insurance agents follow a process where discounts are given to customers. However, the information is pretty general and some important stuff can be missed out. Enlist the help of your agent to find you more discount rates that may be included in your coverage and you may be surprised that there is actually more for you.
